الملخص

Background: Obesity as an epidemic disease is distributed among both sexes male and female groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly, rapidly rising obesity rates are leading to a growing number of non-communicable diseases, which are becoming a major health crisis.

The study aimed to assess population awareness regarding obesity in Al-Hodeidah City. Methodology: A Descriptive cross-sectional study recruited a sample was 220 as a sample size of adult people, the research data and information were carried through a convenience sample study through an online electronic questionnaire after review for the inclusion and exclusion criteria, SPSS version 21 was used for data analysis. Results: Near two-thirds of participants were male, more than half were single, also (28.2%) had a bachelor's degree, more than half were unemployed, three thirds (75%) were lives in the city, more than three thirds (77.3%) aged from 18 to 40 years old, the majority (75.5%) don't have obesity, more than half (55.5%) were loved much food, and more than one third (35%) were eating three meals daily. The majority (78.2%) of participants had awareness of obesity. Finally, there is a significant association between the level of awareness toward obesity and demographical characteristic such as (sex, age, marital status, employment, daily meals, family history of obesity, and do you have awareness of obesity) (P-vale< 0.05).

Recommendation: Recommended populations to change their lifestyle, regular exercise, and avoid fast food consumption to minimize the chances of developing obesity.
