Abstract

This research aims to identify the role of higher education institutions and their contributions to the development of industries and crafts; This is because the first educational concern is to preserve the culture of society, to bid for its civilization, and to contribute to its enrichment and development. The importance of research comes from the important role played by higher education in the lives of nations and peoples, and the lives of their children, and in determining their capabilities, and their future, and some countries have been able to achieve cultural, social and economic growth by relying on institutions of higher education, as a natural input to any development, as the human being will remain the goal of development, and its means. The function of higher education is mainly reflected in the development of human resources, development, and the creation of skills and specializations necessary for the development process, and that the required transformation is that universities break down all these barriers between them and their society, and seek to change the strategy of education, its means, and tactics, and develop a format in their programs parallel to academic programs that pays attention to these industries and crafts. To become learning organizations aimed at community development and renewal, the manufacture of artisan ideas, their transformation into products, and the use of systemic thinking for these handicrafts. The method of study is descriptive.

The research came to several results, most notably that industries and crafts are a product and cultural fabric that represents an important part of our social thought and a basic reference - as a peculiarity - to the conclusion of a civilized and educational experience, from which we must derive our goals and educational philosophy. Higher education institutions should adopt new values that believe in raising the status of manual labor and supporting population activities focused on activating the family role and partnership with the community.
