This research deals with the novel Aden Incense by the novelist Ali Al-Muqri, using a semiotic approach. The research deals with the city of Aden before independence from British rule, and how Aden before independence was a sign of peace, love, and acceptance of others, and how this situation changed to replace it with war, hatred, murder, and devastation. The research adopts the semiotic approach, He covers the place: Aden, its small cities, its neighbourhoods, its streets, its shops and what is sold in it, its mosques, its temples, its churches, its cafes, its casinos, its cinemas. Then it moves on to study the characters in the novel, and divides them into main characters such as: Michelle, Mama, and secondary characters such as: the Jewish candle, Qabwa, and uncle. Shimon, Hey Hitler, Sheikh Abdul-Jabbar, Francisco, The Silent Woman, Halaha, Afoura, and then addresses the semiotics of dreams, the semiotics of culture, and the various rituals that are practiced, concluding with proverbs.
